Statement of Anonymity
“Our public relations policy is based on attraction rather than promotion. We need always maintain personal anonymity at the level of press, radio and film.”
We respectfully ask that AA speakers and members not be photographed, videotaped or identified by full name on audio tapes or in published or broadcast reports or meetings, including those on the internet. The assurance of anonymity is essential in our effort to help other problem drinkers who wish to share our recovery program with us. A tradition of anonymity reminds us to that AA principals come before personalities.
A further note on anonymity: out of respect for others, please do not take photographs during the meetings. Also, be considerate when taking photographs around the meeting venues. Take care that you do not capture images of AA members, family members and friends who did not give permission and may not wish to appear in your pictures. Please do not post recognizable photos of identifiable AA members on web sites accessible to the public, including unrestricted pages on social networking sites.
